RSP (Remote SIM Provisioning)

RSP is the GSMA-defined architecture and set of protocols that download, install, enable, disable and delete operator profiles on an eUICC over the air. The consumer variant (SGP.22) is pull-based from the device using an activation code or default SM-DP+ address; the M2M variant (SGP.02) is push-based via SM-SR. RSP replaces physical SIM logistics and underpins eSIM and iSIM.

RSP in context

Subscriber identifiers (IMSI, SUPI, MSISDN, IMEI) anchor authentication, charging and lawful interception. Any protocol that leaks a permanent identifier is treated as a privacy defect, which is why 5G introduced SUCI concealment on the air interface.
