SECAM (Security Assurance Methodology)

In telecommunications, SECAM is the 3GPP-defined Security Assurance Methodology that establishes how the security of network products is evaluated, including the structure of Security Assurance Specifications (SCAS), the role of accredited test laboratories, and the audit process operationalized by the GSMA NESAS scheme.

SECAM in context

The radio access network is where mobile devices attach to the operator's infrastructure. Attacks in this layer include IMSI catching, rogue base stations and downgrade attacks; defenses rest on mutual authentication, integrity-protected signaling and Open RAN supply-chain hygiene.
