IR.92 (GSMA IR.92 IMS Profile for Voice and SMS)

IR.92 is the GSMA Permanent Reference Document that defines the IMS profile used by VoLTE. It mandates a specific subset of 3GPP MTSI features, codecs (AMR-NB, optionally AMR-WB), supplementary services, SMS over IP, and roaming behaviour, giving operators an interoperable baseline. IR.92 in context

Roaming and interconnect are where two operators exchange signaling and user-plane traffic. Trust boundaries here are the primary attack surface for location tracking, SMS interception and fraud, which is why GSMA now mandates SEPP with PRINS on 5G interconnect.
