DetNet (Deterministic Networking)

Also known as: Deterministic Networking

DetNet is the IETF work (RFC 8655 and related) that provides deterministic data paths across IP and MPLS networks with bounded latency, low packet loss and low jitter. It complements Layer-2 TSN by extending deterministic behaviour across routed domains and is used in transport networks that carry 5G URLLC, industrial control and utility grid traffic.

DetNet in context

The radio access network is where mobile devices attach to the operator's infrastructure. Attacks in this layer include IMSI catching, rogue base stations and downgrade attacks; defenses rest on mutual authentication, integrity-protected signaling and Open RAN supply-chain hygiene.
